Which marketing channels should you use?

Paste your product URL. You get your customer segments, then three to four ranked channels for each — with the format to post in, a cadence one person can keep, the opening angle for that segment, and the prerequisite to have in place before the channel produces anything. Free, and no account.

Free, no account, no card. We read your public page — nothing is saved.

You’ll get three to four ranked channels per customer segment — and for each one the format to post in, a cadence one person can actually keep, the opening angle for that segment, and the prerequisite to have in place first. Biased hard toward channels you can work by hand with no ad budget.

How the ranking is made

Four rules, applied to every plan it produces.

  • Ranked per segment, not for the product

Different buyers are in different places, so one channel list for the whole product is the wrong shape. Each segment gets its own ranked three or four.

  • Biased toward what one person can do with no budget

Specific communities, founder LinkedIn and X, Product Hunt, Indie Hackers, cold outreach, build-in-public. Paid ads, webinars and events only appear when a segment is genuinely unreachable otherwise — and then the reason says so and it ranks last.

  • Named places, never categories

"r/dataengineering" or "the dbt Slack", not "social media" or "online forums". A channel you cannot open in a browser tab is not an instruction.

  • Every channel carries its prerequisite

The thing that has to be true before the channel works at all — karma in the subreddit before you link anything, a warmed domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC before you send cold email. Skipping the prerequisite is the usual reason a channel produces nothing.

Once you know which, read how

A playbook per channel: the play, the cadence, the prerequisite, and the specific ways it fails.

Questions about channels

Which marketing channels work best for B2B SaaS?

The ones where your specific buyer already discusses the problem, which is why this cannot be answered generically. For an early-stage B2B SaaS worked by one person, the realistic set is: two or three specific communities where the buyer already is, founder-led posting on LinkedIn or X, a launch moment on Product Hunt or Hacker News, and cold email if the deal size justifies the effort per send. Paid acquisition rarely makes sense before you know which message converts.

How many channels should a solo founder run at once?

Two, properly. Each channel has a real weekly time cost and a prerequisite to meet before it produces anything, and running five badly reliably beats running none only in the sense that it feels busier. Two channels worked consistently for three months is the version that produces data you can act on.

Is this channel picker free?

Yes — no account and no card. There is an hourly limit per visitor because each run makes two model calls, and results are cached per URL for a day.

What is a channel prerequisite, and why does it matter more than the channel?

It is the condition that has to hold before the channel can work: standing in the community before you link anything, a warmed sending domain before you cold email, people lined up to comment before you launch. It matters more than the channel choice because skipping it makes a well-chosen channel produce nothing — and it looks like the channel failing rather than the setup being absent.

How is this different from the full version?

This plans the first three segments from your page and nothing is saved. Signed in, John plans every segment, grounds the plan in your founder context rather than just your landing page, lets you reshape it by chatting, tracks which channels you are actually doing, and then drafts the posts and outreach for them — surfacing each one for your approval before anything goes out.

Should I trust the ranking?

Treat it as a starting position, not a verdict. It is inferred from your page and reflects opinionated defaults about what a solo founder can execute — it has not been validated against your market. The ranking is most useful for deciding what to try first and what to ignore, and least useful as a prediction of results.
