You’ll get three to five customer segments, each with who they are, the pain that makes them buy, a value proposition written for them, evidence pulled from your own page, and the channels they’re reachable on.

How it works

Four things happen, and all four are checkable against your own page.

  1. 01

It reads your page, it does not ask you questions

Your headline, feature copy, structured data and brand are pulled from the live page — including client-rendered pages, which get loaded in a real browser first.

  2. 02

It looks for distinct buying situations, not job titles

A segment here is a situation that makes someone buy — a trigger, a company stage, a specific job they are trying to finish — because that is what changes your copy. "Startups" is not a segment.

  3. 03

Every segment cites your own page

Each one comes back with the lines from your page that support it. If a segment cannot be grounded in something you actually wrote, it is not a finding, and you should be able to check that.

  4. 04

You get the channels each segment is reachable on

Segments you cannot reach are not useful, so each one carries the channels where those buyers actually are — which feeds straight into the channel picker.

What this can't tell you

Worth knowing before you act on the output.

  • It is a hypothesis, not research. It is derived from your positioning, so it tells you who your page is currently written for — which is often not who you should be selling to. Treat every segment as something to go and test on real people.
  • It is only as good as your page. A thin landing page produces thin segments; that is information about the page.
  • It cannot see your existing customers, your analytics or your sales calls. The signed-in version works from your founder context, which does include what you know about your buyers.
  • It does not read pages behind a login, a paywall or an email gate.

Questions about ICPs

What is an ideal customer profile (ICP)?

A description of the specific kind of buyer your product is genuinely the best available option for — the situation they are in, the pain that makes them act, and what would make them choose you. It is narrower than a market and more useful than a persona: the test of a good ICP is that it changes what you write and where you post it.

Is this ICP generator free?

Yes. No account, no card, and nothing to cancel. There is an hourly limit per visitor because each run costs us a model call, and results for a given URL are cached for a day.

How is this different from an ICP template?

A template gives you empty fields to fill in, which leaves the hard part — deciding who your buyers are — exactly where it was. This reads your live page and proposes specific segments with the evidence for each, so you start from something concrete to argue with.

How many customer segments should a SaaS product have?

Three to five is the useful range for an early-stage product, and one is usually a sign of under-segmentation rather than focus. More than five and you cannot serve any of them properly as a solo founder. The point is not coverage — it is having two or three you can write distinct copy for.

Is the output accurate?

It is a well-grounded hypothesis, not a fact. It is inferred from your page, so it reflects who your positioning currently speaks to. Where it is wrong, that is usually a finding about the page rather than about your market — and the fastest way to check is to take the segments to five real conversations.

Do you store my URL or the results?

The result is cached for 24 hours so a repeat visit is instant and costs nothing, and we record that a generation happened for product analytics. Nothing is attached to an account, because there is no account.

What do I do with the segments once I have them?

Pick the one you can reach most cheaply, not the biggest. Then rewrite your landing page headline for that segment specifically, and work the two channels where those buyers already are. The channel picker will rank those channels for you, and the playbooks say how each one works.
