Get your landing page roasted, and the first fix to make

Paste a URL. John, Venturehand’s AI agent, reads the page and scores it out of 100 on five things that decide whether a visitor stays — your headline, your value proposition, your call to action, your proof, and what your first screen puts first — with a quote from your page behind every verdict. No signup, no card.

Free, no account. We keep the URL and the result so the roast has a link you can share.

You get a score out of 100, a score out of 10 and a one-line verdict for each of these five, John’s one-line take, and the first thing to fix:

  • Headline clarity
  • Value proposition
  • Call to action
  • Proof & trust
  • Above-the-fold focus

How it's scored

Five categories, scored 0 to 10, each worth 20 points.

  1. 01

    Headline clarity

Can a stranger say what you sell from the headline alone, without the subheadline or a demo?

  2. 02

    Value proposition

Does the page say who it is for and what changes for them — an outcome, not a list of features?

  3. 03

    Call to action

Is there one primary action, early on the page, that says what happens when you click it?

  4. 04

    Proof & trust

Is there real proof — named customers, numbers, logos, quotes — next to the claim it backs up?

  5. 05

    Above-the-fold focus

Do the first lines carry one idea, or do five ideas compete for the first five seconds?

  • Each category gets a score from 0 to 10, and each is worth 20 points. The overall score is the five added together and doubled — computed by our code from the category scores, not written by the model, so you can check the arithmetic.
  • Every category comes with a quote from your page as evidence. The quote is checked against the text we actually read from your page, and a quote that is not there is dropped rather than shown. A roast that misquotes you is worse than no roast.
  • John reads your page's text in page order — the headline first — not a screenshot. Above-the-fold focus is judged from what your page puts first, not from pixels, and nothing is said about colours or images he cannot see.
  • Scores are calibrated so that most pages land between 4 and 7 in each category. 9 and 10 are rare on purpose: a tool that hands everyone an A tells you nothing.

What this can't tell you

Worth knowing before you rewrite anything.

  • It is an informed opinion, not a measurement. It cannot see your traffic, your conversion rate or who your visitors are, so a page that scores 60 can still convert well for the audience it was written for. Test changes on real visitors before you trust them.
  • It reads text, not design. Layout, contrast, images and page speed matter and are not scored here.
  • It reads one page at a time, in English, and it cannot read pages behind a login, a paywall or a strict bot wall.
  • It is written by an AI model. AI can be wrong — check the verdicts against your own page before you change anything.

Questions about the roast

What is a landing page roast?

An honest review of a landing page against the things that decide whether a visitor stays: whether the headline says what the product is, whether the page says who it is for, whether there is one clear next step, whether there is proof, and whether the first screen carries one idea. This one scores each from 0 to 10, gives the page a score out of 100, and names the first fix.

Is the landing page roast free?

Yes. No account and no card. There is an hourly limit per visitor because each roast costs us a model call, and a roast of the same page is kept for a day, so pasting it again shows the same result and the same link.

How is the score calculated?

Five categories — headline clarity, value proposition, call to action, proof and trust, above-the-fold focus — each scored 0 to 10 and each worth 20 points. The overall score is computed by our code from those five numbers, not taken from the model. Each category cites a line from your page, and a quote we cannot find on your page is dropped.

What do you store?

The URL of the page you paste, without its query string, and the result — so the roast has a link you can share. Anyone with the link sees the score, the five verdicts and the first fix; result pages are not indexed by search engines. The full report is emailed only if you ask for it, and you are added to Venturehand's email list only if you tick the box on that form.

Is this written by AI?

Yes. The roast is written by John, Venturehand's AI agent, and it says so on the result and on the score cards. AI can be wrong, so check each verdict against your own page before you change it. The scores are an opinion about your copy, not a measurement of your conversion rate.

What makes a good SaaS landing page headline?

It names what the product is or does in words a stranger already uses, and it is specific enough that a competitor could not put it on their own page. "The future of work" fails both tests; "Scheduling links your clients can book without an account" passes. Clever lines work only once the plain one is already on the page.

What is in the full report?

Every category's evidence from your page and its fix, the top three fixes in priority order, rewritten headlines with the angle behind each, a rewrite of your first screen, and a five-point checklist. It arrives as a PDF by email.
